NBSC’s 15th Commencement Exercises Highlight Academic Excellence and Cultural Pride
The 15th Commencement Exercises of Northern Bukidnon State College, held on August 6, 2025, shone not only with academic achievements but also with a vibrant display of cultural pride. A number of graduates proudly wore their traditional attire, turning the graduation stage into a colorful tapestry of the province’s rich heritage.
Leading the graduating class was Class Valedictorian Jiselle Bheb D. Vicariato, a proud member of the Indigenous People (IP) community, who donned her traditional clothing as she delivered her heartfelt valedictory address. Her presence on stage embodied both academic excellence and the celebration of identity, inspiring her fellow graduates to embrace their roots while pursuing their dreams.
IP graduates who wore their traditional attire during the ceremony included the following students:
- Regin L. Cahuan, Cum Laude, Bachelor of Elementary Education, General Education Curriculum,
- Percy Faith E. Acil, Cum Laude, Bachelor of Elementary Education, General Education Curriculum,
- Florandi D. Marangga, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Major in Marketing Management
The event underscored NBSC’s commitment to inclusivity, giving space for students to express themselves through their heritage and acknowledging the diverse cultures that make up its academic community. For many graduates, wearing traditional clothing was more than a fashion choice; it was a declaration of pride, resilience, and the preservation of traditions amid modern challenges.
This celebration is well-supported by the NBSC community as well as the SUC President I, Dr. Christie Jean Villanueva-Ganiera, Ed.D., CESE, who gave permission prior to the graduation ceremony regarding the wearing of the traditional clothing.
